Konsola dla wygody sterowania, zbudowana jest, jako dwuelementowy moduł (slider), w którym jedna część stanowi ekran, a druga zawiera przyciski sterowania. Wyświetlacz o przekątnej 3.8 cala ma zapewnić wyższą o 43 procent jasność, w stosunku do modelu PSP-3000. Konsolę wyposażono w 16 GB pamięci, łączność Bluetooth , czytnik kart Micro Stick, a w przygotowaniu na nią są gry Gran Turismo, Little Big Planet i Metal Gear Solid.
